Tri-Level Section Championship Format & Regulation

A tri-level team consist of 3.5/4.0/4.5 Men’s & Women’s doubles teams. Each level/gender team may consist of a minimum of two and a maximum of 4 players. A complete team would consist of a minimum of 12 players and a maximum of 24 (3.5M/3.5W, 4.0M/4.0W, 4.5M/4.5W). The NTRP rating of each player may be .5 below but must not exceed the level of each Division (i.e a 3.5 could play on a 4.0 team). Each District will be invited to field a complete or partial team at the Section Championships. For example, if a District is only able to field 3.5M/4.0W, those pairings may compete to represent the Section at those levels and genders.

The competition format is the same as the other Section Championships. Each level and gender will complete a round-robin to determine the winner. Matches are best 2 of 3 tie-break sets with a 10-point match tie-break (Coman) in lieu of a 3rd set. Add scoring will be used.
*Note: self-rated players are ineligible for Section or National Championships.
The outright winners for each level and gender will advance to the National invitational Championships at Indian Wells in March 2016. Therefore the team advancing to Nationals could be comprised of pairings from several Districts unless one particular District wins all levels and genders outright at the Sectional Championships.
